Rando GPX is a simple hike-recording app with no dependency on Google Play Services.
Main features:
* Background GPS recording (screen off) via a foreground service, with a notification showing live distance and duration
* Live track drawn on a map (OpenTopoMap tiles, suited to hiking)
* Altitude correction using open terrain elevation tiles (AWS Open Data, derived from SRTM, cached on device) refined with the offline EGM96 geoid, for elevation gain/loss more accurate than raw GPS altitude
* Export to the standard GPX 1.1 format, reusable in any other hiking tool
* Hike history with detailed statistics: distance, elevation gain/loss, average and maximum speed, minimum and maximum altitude, duration
* Full route map and elevation profile for each recorded hike
* Selection of a map area to make available offline
No telemetry, no trackers, no non-free dependencies. Location is provided by the standard Android API (LocationManager), not Google's location services.
