WolLight

Wake-on-LAN app with device list, LAN scan and stale-IP recovery. LAN-only.
Version: 1.0.6
Added: 12-10-2026
Updated: 12-10-2026
WolLight sends Wake-on-LAN magic packets to PCs on the same local network and
keeps a small list of the devices you wake regularly.

Features:

* Wake-on-LAN: sends a standard magic packet as a UDP broadcast on the local
network, with a configurable port.
* Registered devices: save the devices you wake often with a name, MAC address,
broadcast address and port. The list is kept on the device.
* LAN scan: detects the current Wi-Fi subnet and probes addresses in parallel to
list reachable hosts, attempting host-name resolution over NetBIOS and mDNS.
* Online / offline indication: a per-device indicator based on ping results,
refreshed on app start, on return to the foreground and on manual ping. The
state only changes after two consecutive matching results, to reduce false
readings from transient packet loss.
* Ping: sends ten pings at one-second intervals and shows each result plus a
summary.
* Stale-IP recovery: if a Wake-on-LAN or manual ping fails to reach a registered
device's saved IP address, WolLight runs one LAN scan and looks for the same
device by its registered MAC address. If it is found at a different address,
the saved IP address is updated only after you confirm.

Privacy and network behaviour:

* All traffic stays on the local network. Magic packets, pings and host-name
resolution (NetBIOS, mDNS, ARP) are local-network only.
* No account, no cloud sync, no external HTTP services.
* No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting.
* Registered device details are stored only in a local database on the device.

Limitations:

* Local network only. Wake-on-LAN uses broadcast packets, so only devices on the
same LAN can be woken. Waking a PC across the internet needs a separate VPN or
port-forwarding setup that WolLight does not provide.
* The target PC must already support and be configured for Wake-on-LAN in its
BIOS/UEFI, network adapter driver and (on Windows) power settings.
* Whether the PC actually wakes depends on that PC's hardware and settings, not
on WolLight. Waking from full shutdown (S5) in particular depends on the PC,
its NIC and the OS power configuration.
* UDP is connectionless, so delivery of a magic packet cannot be confirmed. Use
ping to check whether the PC has come up.

Requires Android 8.0 (API 26) or later and a Wi-Fi connection.
